Bitcoin is trading near $102,800, down slightly on the day but holding firm above key technical levels. The stability comes despite a fresh warning from BlackRock, which flagged quantum computing as a long-term risk to Bitcoin’s cryptographic security in its latest iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) filing.
The firm notes that future advancements in quantum technology could theoretically compromise digital asset security, though the risk remains distant.
“While rare today, these disclosures are a prudent part of ETF documentation,” said analysts, adding they’re meant to prepare investors for evolving threats. This is the first time BlackRock has included quantum computing risks in its ETF literature, a move that reinforces the firm’s transparency.
Despite the cautionary tone, markets responded with calm, viewing the disclosure as evidence that institutions are preparing for Bitcoin’s long-term future.
IBIT currently holds $64 billion in assets, making it the largest spot BTC ETF on the market.

Japan’s Metaplanet made headlines with a $126 million Bitcoin purchase, adding 1,241 BTC to its treasury. The firm now owns 6,796 BTC, overtaking El Salvador’s national reserve of 6,174 BTC. The average purchase price was $102,119 per coin.
