Character.AI has unveiled a new feature called ‘Scenes’, designed to revolutionize how users engage in storytelling by offering character-driven role-play experiences. This development aims to transform casual chats into immersive, story-driven narratives, according to the Character.AI Blog.

The introduction of Scenes allows users to craft and step into ready-made worlds, which enhances the depth and accessibility of storytelling on the platform. This feature is accessible to all users, encouraging a new wave of creative expression by expanding the diversity and complexity of narratives that can be shared and experienced.
Creating a Scene
Users can now take on the role of a director, setting the tone and emotional stakes of their stories. A Scene can be designed in two styles: ‘Any Character’, which is adaptable to any character chosen by the user, and ‘Main Character’, which centers around a specific character’s personality and traits. Users are guided to define the setting, backstory, and player goals, craft an engaging introduction, and manage the Scene’s visibility settings.
Playing a Scene
Scenes offer a structured narrative, providing built-in context and roles that facilitate immediate engagement in role-playing. Users can browse Scenes created by the community or search for specific narratives. Each Scene allows users to select a character and participate in a guided story, promoting an interactive and fulfilling storytelling experience.
Ensuring Safety and Creativity
Character.AI emphasizes maintaining a safe environment for creativity. Users are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the platform’s Terms of Service and Safety Center to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience.
By streamlining the storytelling process, Scenes enable creators to extend their narratives without the need to build new characters from scratch, thereby saving time and enhancing creative output.
